So, the Friday before Labor Day, not a big day in the arts commentary business as a general rule. Attention is elsewhere and who could possibly begrudge that? So we'll put aside our emerging ideas, freeze our bones of contention in mid-gnaw, halt the manufacture of descriptions. What about the sifting through culture? Are we ever, any of us, free of that? Probably not. So we'll sift and maybe do a little filtering, screening, poke at a few things with our practiced forefinger, nothing in particular in mind, just habit.
